Cooking Shouldn’t Kill

We’ve eaten so many meals cooked over a three-stone fuelwood fire. Even though the kitchen is outdoors, the girl or woman building the fire and stirring the pot is breathing smoke. We popped a hundred bags of popcorn over a woodfire like that, and I felt the smoke stinging my eyes.

The Global Alliance or Clean Cookstoves is doing great research and work in this area. This isn’t only a huge health problem. It’s an environmental threat. We can do better. If you cook on a gas or electric range in your kitchen or warm food or beverages in a micrwave, you probably don’t understand the scope of this opportunity. Please watch Sarah’s story and Julia Robert’s plea at the end.
