Teach Women to Read and Write

Wara was a hard-working natural leader in the rice-production project in Tagrin village, who had business talent and ideas, She hoped to start an onion business, but she would need to understand and sign papers to sell her onions. Unfortunately, Wara did not know how to read or write her own name. Most rural Sierra Leoneans sign papers with their thumbprint.

Shouldn’t it be a human right to be able to read your own name and write it? I remember Wara’s delight and her beautiful smile when she wrote her name for the first time. She was hesitant at first, but she became more and more confident.
